		The trouble with the internet is there is too much information - or rather what you need is hidden amongst all the rest.
	Here you will find some starting points relevent to pots and potters.

CLAYART: - clayart is an email based discussion group with an international (but mainly American) list of Subscribers ( If you are new to the internet you may be put off by being told you have to subscribe don't worry no money is involved! Subscribe to the clayart list and your email inbox will never be empty! However if this is OK it remains the number one place to get an answer to any ceramic question, with some very well informed people willing to impart their knowledge. You do not need to actively participate you can just watch (lurk).

So here's how to get started: -
All commands to the LISTSERV must be in the body of the message. Any text in the SUBJECT line of the email message will be ignored. You must NOT include ANY other text (signature file, etc) in the message.
SUBSCRIBING - In subscribing to ClayArt you MUST include BOTH your actual first name and your last name in the format below. You must subscribe from your regular email address.
To join (subscribe to) CLAYART, send the following e-mail message to the LISTSERV@lsv.ceramics.org: SUBSCRIBE CLAYART YourFirstName YourLastName
UNSUBSCRIBING - To sign off CLAYART permanently, send the following e-mail message to the LISTSERV@lsv.ceramics.org SIGNOFF CLAYART
To stop CLAYART mail temporarily, send the following e-mail message the LISTSERV@lsv.ceramics.org SET CLAYART NOMAIL
To reinstate CLAYART mail delivery, send the following e-mail message to the LISTSERV@lsv.ceramics.org SET CLAYART MAIL
If you are using a commercial service you may want to set your CLAYART subscription to DIGEST, which sends all the mail for one day as a single e-mail message. To do this send the following message to LISTSERV@lsv.ceramics.org: SET CLAYART DIGEST (NOTE: You can reset CLAYART to single mail messages by sending the SET CLAYART MAIL message described above.)

Anyone can search the Clayart Archives so if for instance you are looking for glaze recipes or how to fire copper red glazes or almost anything else this is worth a try, and it gives you some idea of the range of things discussed on clayart.

Newsgroups: - You can, using your email handler( Outlook Express is the common one) tosubscribe to news groups. There is one pottery group: - rec.crafts.pottery and one other which has occasional pottery posts: - uk.rec.crafts.
Again with news groups you can just watch and only take part when you feel ready.

If your ISP doesn't 'do' newsgroups try using Google.A search of Google groups for rec.crafts.pottery
