(2 votes)
Hode Pottery is the creation of a husband and wife team who work closely together to produce garden pottery that is both decorative and functional. Stoneware clay is used which makes the pots exceptionally strong and impervious to frost and they can be left outside during winter months. Philip Simmonds Sculptural Ceramics
(3 votes)
Philip's very large pots are designed for gardens and outdoor spaces. Simple understated form where colour and texture work together with changing weather patterns to create a permanent sculptural statement. Inspiration for the pots flows from a fascination with architecture old and new combined with a buoyant enthusiasm for gardens.
The work is fresh, honest and very beautiful and the craftsmanship follows the ancient traditions of early African potters who employed the freehand coiling technique to achieve near perfect symmetry.
