Description: Steve Leaning is an artist that began using ceramics two years ago. Working from his studio, which doubles as a gallery, he is interested in exploring the texture and form of the clay its self. His current work is inspired by urban decay and in particular graffiti on crumbling walls. The pieces are hand built then scored and scratched and oxides applied while still green. Once biscuit fired a thin semi-matt white glaze is applied, to allow the oxides to burn through, along with further decoration then fired to 1250c.
Steve has sold and exhibited widely. He also runs pottery classes and workshops from his studio/gallery set in the picturesque Lincolnshire village of Newton.
